TACO completes Tenn. manufacturing expansion

MIAMI – Sport fishing equipment, rub rail and specialty marine hardware manufacturer TACO Metals, Inc., has completed a 120,000 square foot manufacturing expansion to its Sparta, Tenn., facility. The expanded site, 170,000 square feet in total, will eventually house 140 employees, the company said in a release yesterday.

The Sparta facility, on 18 acres, was purchased in July of 2006 and immediately opened as a regional OEM warehouse. TACO relocated all marine aftermarket distribution from Miami to Sparta in September of last year.

The expanded manufacturing facility was designed for optimum efficiency and offers many opportunities for continued growth. TACO’s metal fabrication operation is in the process of being relocated from Miami to Sparta and should be completed by the end of February. TACO is expanding its plastic extrusion operation in Sparta and will maintain its current extrusion operation in Miami indefinitely.

“The Sparta facility is conveniently located between Nashville and Knoxville just off I-40 and offers excellent interstate highway access to all the regional manufacturers,” said TACO Metals president Jon Kushner. “The region also positions TACO, with its other distribution facilities, within two days delivery time to many of our boat building, accessory manufacturing and aftermarket customers throughout the U.S.”
