High performance boating course targets women
MIAMI – Outerlimits Powerboats will offer a performance boat school session for women during the Miami International Boat Show, the company said in a press release yesterday.
“It has always been our top priority that our customers know how to properly operate their boats,” said Mike Fiore, Outerlimits owner and president. “Our service department, dealers and even we as owners, have boated with our customers to give them the right orientation to a high performance boat.”
“We now want to give all women boaters a better feeling about being in a high-speed boat – to be boating partners – not just passengers,” said Marilyn DeMartini, marketer for the company. DeMartini will be attending the course.
The Tres Martin Performance Boat School will be operating the session. It is a skill-based boating school and is customized to the type of boat owned. Students must demonstrate competence and ability prior to receiving certification.
The women’s course is designed to provide learning in a comfortable, stress-free environment, the company reported. The first day is classroom-based, while the second day is hands-on aboard the owner’s or the school’s boat.
The Tres Martin Performance Boat School is making a Miami Boat Show special offer to participants who sign up by Feb. 1. The first participant’s class will be offered at the standard rate of $2,500 and a second person can receive a 10 percent savings on tuition. If the first boater is receiving a free course from the manufacturer of his or her boat, the second course will still be offered at the $2,250 rate.
The Women’s Performance Boating School is open to all women, regardless of what brand boat they or their boating partners own or enjoy. The classroom portion will be held Feb. 19 at the Hibiscus Room in the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay. The in-boat sessions will be held Feb. 20 and Feb. 21.; location to be announced.
