MarineEast undergoes ownership change

LA PORTE, Ind. – Plastic components and accessories company MarineEast has transitioned to a new owner, Kenneth Coates, keeping it in familiar hands, the company reported in a statement today.

Coates is president of Kenco Plastics, which has manufactured MarineEast’s products for 30 years. Former MarineEast owner David Thompson will remain on board as chief designer at the new company, named MarineEast Inc., it reported.

In an effort to streamline communication and maximize manufacturing and shipping efficiencies, the company’s headquarters has been relocated to La Porte, Ind., where Kenco Plastics is located.

“MarineEast will continue to excel at solving our customers’ problems with superior products and personal attention,” said Thompson. “We have a very close relationship with Ken and his family. MarineEast is in excellent hands.”

“I’m pleased that David will continue to add his innovative creations to our line of 1,600 boating products,” said Coates. “MarineEast already has a firm reputation in the marine marketplace, and I look forward to developing all its strengths to new levels in the coming years.”

With four ISO-rated companies, Kenco Plastics is a producer of custom-molded thermoplastic products for the marine, automotive, aeronautical and medical industries.
