LIVONIA, Mich. – Nearly 100 marine businessmen and women attended the Michigan Boating Industries Association’s 2007 Recreational Boating Educational Conference and annual meeting Nov. 28-30 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme, Mich., MBIA said in a press release yesterday.

“Our members understand the value associated with continued education and networking especially during challenging times,” said Van Snider, MBIA president. “Our annual conference is an important membership service available to all MBIA members.”

The conference is the only educational conference in Michigan dedicated to the marine industry. It offers attendees three days of educational programming customized for boat dealers, marina operators and other marine industry professionals. Topics for this year’s conference included Michigan’s economy, marketing, sales management training, Michigan’s clean marina program, marina economic impact, tax planning, legislative updates, invasive species and water levels.

In addition to private marine businesspeople, many conference attendees were harbormasters for municipalities around the state and for state-run harbors of refuge.
