Deadline extended for 2008 Web Award nominations

SEATTLE – Boats.com and the National Marine Manufacturers Association have pushed back the deadline for entries in the 2008 North American Marine Industry Web Awards competition to Dec. 15, 2007, organizers said in a press release Nov. 20.

Boats.com and NMMA have presented the Web Awards annually since 2004 to recognize companies with Web sites that demonstrate the highest levels of creativity in design, ease of navigation and presentation of up-to-date, relevant content for the boating industry.

“We are extending the deadline two weeks to give companies additional time to complete their submissions and ensure the broadest possible representation from all sectors of the marine industry,” said Debra Keene Bergeron, Boats.com and YachtWorld.com general manager. “The Internet is rapidly becoming the preferred vehicle for generating qualified leads and driving sales of boats and accessories, and as the leading Web-based resource for the marine industry, we see these awards as a means of encouraging excellence and innovation in utilizing this valuable marketing tool effectively.”

Awards will be presented in four categories: Best OEM/Manufacturer Site, Best Marine Equipment Site, Best Dealer/Broker Site and Best Marine Site Overall. A fifth award, Outstanding Contribution to the Online Marine Industry, will recognize an individual who has made a significant contribution to Internet development in the boating industry.

Details and submission forms may be downloaded at www.boats.com/nawebawards/index.html.
