Florida school to host service expo

CANTON, Ga. – The Association of Marine Technicians has entered into a joint agreement with WyoTech in Daytona Beach, Fla., to host its annual trade show and convention on the school’s campus, AMTECH said in a recent release.

The National Marine Service Expo trade show has been held annually in Orlando, Fla. since 1994. NMSE is the only trade show that is dedicated to the marine industry’s service community. The weekend event is comprised of two full days of technical workshops, and a tradeshow that marine technicians can stay abreast of the latest state-of-the-art in service products, tools and equipment. A number of engine manufacturers provide training at NMSE for AMTECH as well.

In addition to the trade show and education, AMTECH also conducts its annual Advisory Council and Board of Directors meetings. The Advisory Council and Board meetings will be held on Jan. 17, 2008, and attendees will be given a tour of the new WyoTech campus. NMSE ’08 will be held Jan. 19-21.

“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with the Association of Marine Technicians and hosting the National Marine Service Expo 2008 at WyoTech’s Daytona Beach, Florida, facility,” said Stephen Whitson, WyoTech campus president. “This relationship continues to foster a vital link between leaders in the marine industry, WyoTech’s marine program educators, and WyoTech’s graduates.”

WyoTech is a post-secondary technical school specializing in motorcycle and marine technician training. It is a part of Corinthian Colleges, Inc., a post-secondary education company. The school recently completed a $28 million construction project of a 90,000 sq ft facility and will expand its marine technician curriculum from 800 hrs to 1000 hrs, and included new texts to coincide with the most modern marine equipment on the market, according to the release.

“The construction of the brand new WyoTech campus is a testament of the school’s commitment to the industry,” said Joe De Marco, AMTECH president. “We are looking forward to a successful relationship with WyoTech as a partner in marine education.”

The AMTECH education division, the Marine Career Institute of North America, will also conduct systems training classes on the WyoTech campus during the year. MCTINA specializes in system update training for currently employed marine technicians who cannot attend full time education, but require update training on specific systems.
