Aluminum Chambered Boats to build new facility

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Aluminum Chambered Boats has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Ferndale, Wash.

Jansen Inc., with whom the company has signed a letter of intent, will provide ACB with a turn-key 190,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility plus a separate 10,000 sq ft. general office building on the I-5 Industrial Center property, according to the company.

The new facility is expected to allow Aluminum Chambered Boats to increase their annual production capacity to 400 boats to meet the current and future demands of their growing recreational, commercial, and government contracts. The company estimates the future growth will bring an additional 290 jobs into Whatcom County.

“ACB anticipates taking residency of the new facility within 12 months of signing the final contracts with Jansen Inc.,” says Tim Metz, President and COO. “We would like to thank Whatcom County Executive Pete Kremen and the Port of Bellingham for their exceptional support in propelling this project forward to meet our demanding schedule and for their assistance with considering the issuance of Industrial Revenue Bonds as a mechanism for financial support assistance.”

As part of their expansion plans, ACB says it is in the process of executing a new lease for an additional 12,000 sq. ft. in Fairhaven. With the additional space, ACB says it will occupy about 72,000 square feet at the Port’s Fairhaven Marine Industrial Park.
