Law firm takes BUC to bankruptcy court
MIAMI – While it recently won a five-year legal battle against the International Yacht Council and MLS Solutions, yacht multiple listing service BUC International Corp. is now being taken to bankruptcy court by one of many law firms it employed during that period, according to an article today in the Miami Herald.
BUC’s Miami law firm, Kluger, Peretz, Kaplan & Berlin, has filed a Chapter 7 involuntary petition against the company, alleging that it owes them nearly $587,000 in legal fees, the newspaper reported.
The company’s legal council told the newspaper that the company will oppose the petition. An associate with the law firm said BUC will have 20 days from July 10 to respond to the petition, according to the newspaper.
In June, a 2004 verdict that awarded BUC more than $1.6 million in damages, plus attorney’s fees, was upheld.
