Godfrey Marine undergoes consolidation

ELKHART, Ind. – Godfrey Marine, manufacturer of Polar brand fiberglass fishing boats, will be moving Polar manufacturing operations to an existing Godfrey Marine facility in Benton, Ill., effective July 14, it reported in a statement yesterday. Production has been located in Vinemont, Ala.

The move to Benton brings Polar’s design, engineering, and manufacturing operations into Godfrey Marine’s Hurricane brand fiberglass deck boat plant.

“This move to a larger facility with available capacity will allow us to achieve significant operating efficiencies in a very competitive marine environment,” said CEO Bob Moran. “It will also allow us to dedicate an expanded design/engineering effort towards both brands, and better support the product and marketing. We believe that this will result in even greater improvements to our industry-leading standard of quality in marine design and manufacturing.”

Headquartered in Elkhart since 1958, Godfrey Marine operates manufacturing facilities in Elkhart and Syracuse, Ind., as well as the Benton facility.
