DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – As part of its new initiative to develop a Quality Management System, trim tab manufacturer Bennett Marine has hired Quality Assurance Manager Mike O’Loughlin, it reported in a statement yesterday.
O’Loughlin comes to Bennett Marine with more than 16 years of experience in operations management, lean manufacturing and the quality improvement methodology Six Sigma. Most recently, O’Loughlin received two new certifications from the American Society for Quality (ASQ): Certified Quality Auditor and Certified Quality Engineer.
O’Loughlin is charged with developing a comprehensive Quality Management System, evaluating and maintaining procedures to improve product quality or operational effectiveness, and ensuring new products are compliant with best-in-class quality metrics, according to the company.
“While Bennett Marine is widely known for excellence in product quality and customer service in the marine industry, we recognize the importance of continuous improvement as we grow both domestically and internationally,” said Plant Manager John Perry.
O’Loughlin’s two ASQ certifications indicate a proficiency in and a comprehension of quality auditing and quality engineering principles and practices. In order to sit for the exam, a candidate must have at least eight years of training and on-the-job experience in quality assurance.
“It was important for me to achieve these two certifications in order to make sure my knowledge and understanding in the fields of quality assurance and quality auditing was up-to-date,” said O’Loughlin. “Applying the latest quality practices within Bennett Marine is the best way to ensure the highest quality products for our customers.”
