MDX launches updated Web site

CHICAGO – The National Marine Manufacturers Association’s Marine Data Exchange program recently launched a newly updated Web site, www.marinedataexchange.com, NMMA said in a press release today.

The new site expands on program information available on www.nmma.org and has helpful suggestions for entering into an electronic trading relationship, frequently asked questions and downloadable MDX data format specifications, among other resources.

“MDX adopters are creating a growing e-commerce network,” said John Warnik, program manager. “Any two or more companies that buy and sell from each other frequently should explore MDX.”

MDX is a cost-effective electronic data interchange solution used to trade formatted business documents, according to NMMA. It facilitates the electronic receipt of purchase orders, order acknowledgements, ship notices and invoices. NMMA and the National Marine Distributors Association developed the program.

The program is available to all marine industry accessory manufacturers, distributors, retailers and boatbuilders, regardless of size. The Web-based version of MDX is designed to allow smaller companies with limited information technology resources to leverage e-commerce benefits. MDX subscribers receive a free company listing on the “trading partners” section of the new Web site, with links to their respective Web page or product catalog. Future site enhancements include information about integration partners, quarterly MDX User Group meetings, testimonials and White Papers explaining MDX’s role in supply chain improvement.
