Trinity Yachts to acquire IYC

GULFPORT, Miss. – Trinity Yachts LLC has signed a letter of intent with International Yacht Collection for Trinity to acquire IYC, according to a story posted on sunherald.com over the weekend.

The deal should be completed by July 1, but terms of the agreement were not available, according to the newspaper.

Felix Sabates, chairman of Trinity, said the acquisition was based on yacht customers’ request for more services.

“Our goal is to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible for an owner to purchase, operate and ultimately sell their Trinity yacht,” Sabates said in a statement. “We felt the quickest path to be able to offer these expanded services was by an acquisition of an existing firm with a reputation for excellence and IYC certainly meets these requirements.”

Trinity operates construction facilities in Gulfport, Miss., and New Orleans, building custom superyachts over 300 feet. It has 18 yachts under contract.

IYC is a global yachting company that offers brokerage, retail charter, charter management, yacht management and crew placement from its headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. It also has offices in Monaco; Nassau, Bahamas; Newport, R.I.; Palm Beach; and St. Maarten.
