Air2Access buys Ohio Wi-Fi operations

CHICAGO – Air2Access, LLC, a provider of maritime communication systems, has acquired select wireless network assets and business rights related to the Ohio Marina Wi-Fi operations of Costal Wave, LLC, Air2Access said in a recent release.

The addition of Coastal Wave’s Lake Erie marina network expands Air2Access’ footprint to over 100 marinas throughout the Great Lakes.

Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“With service now extending from Cleveland to Green Bay, this acquisition solidifies our position as the Great Lakes leading provider of Wi-Fi to Marinas,” said Bill Shipley, Air2Access president. “We are continuing to expand our roaming network, enabling boaters to sign on at any Air2Access Wi-Fi hotspot, and at thousands of roaming partner hotspots nationwide.”

Coastal Wave will continue to focus on growing its municipal and rural fixed wireless network operations and servicing existing contracts, the company said.

“The sale of our marina assets allows us to focus on growing our core business,” said Tom Whitted, Coastal Wave’s president. “The sale to a Great Lakes Wi-Fi operator greatly expands the number of marinas in which our boaters can use the same service. Working closely with Air2Access will help ensure a smooth transition for our boaters and marina operators.”
