Maritime Skiff bought, will relocate to Maine

AUGUSTA, Maine – Kenway Corp., a fiberglass manufacturer in Augusta, Maine, has bought Massachusetts-based boatbuilder Maritime Skiff Inc., and plans to relocate the business to Maine, The Associated Press reported in a story on the Boston Herald’s Web site over the weekend.

Maritime Skiff will be renamed Maritime Marine and will serve as a sister company to Kenway Corp. with the same ownership and management team, AP, which cited the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development as its source, reported.

Kenway was a contract manufacturer that produced fiberglass hulls, decks and consoles for Maritime Skiff. Under the new arrangement, Maritime Marine will produce powerboats from start to finish and ship to dealers directly from Augusta, according to the story.

Ken Priest, company president, said he hopes to double boat production to 300 in the next three to five years.
