2006 powerboat sales down 6-8 percent

MIAMI – The December version of Info-Link’s Bellwether Report suggests the combined 15 ft-plus power boat segment in the Bellwether states finished the year down about 8 percent. However, once all the states report, it looks like the year will finish down somewhere in the 6 to 8 percent range, the company reported today.

While the ski boat and PWC segments showed signs of growth early on, they only managed to finish even with last year, according to Info-Link.

“While it isn’t evident on our website, the only types of boats that outperformed last year were the big ones,” said Jesse Wells, Info-Link director of sales & marketing. “At the risk of stating the obvious, the more affluent the consumer, the less of an impact the economic factors have.”
