MATES to hold annual meeting

CHICAGO – The Marine Association for Technology Exchange Standards will hold a public meeting at the Miami International Boat Show to provide an update on MATES activity, including news about data standards completed and in development, the organization reported in a release this morning.

The agenda includes a demonstration of the Discover Boating Remote Lead Export System. DBLS is available to all dealers and manufacturers registered to use the lead system on GrowBoating.org. Using a standardized message format (the MATES Sales Lead specification in XML), marine companies can poll DBLS once every four hours. The retrieval process can be automated and lead information obtained in a structured, non-proprietary format conducive to database import at the receiving company.

“The DBLS is an excellent example of what we can achieved when forward-thinking companies create an industry standard to solve communication challenges,” said MATES executive director John Warnik. “Anyone curious about how MATES can help improve their respective businesses should plan on attending this meeting.”

MATES is working to develop, implement and support a common set of communication and data exchange standards with the ultimate goal of creating an environment where people and companies in the industry can focus on value-added activity by reducing IT burdens and eliminating system incompatibility, making it easier for companies to transact business with one another.

The meeting will be held Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. in Room A201 of the Miami Beach Convention Center.
