OYS Service to be acquired by BSI A/S

NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. — OYS Service, Inc., a Florida-based company specializing in superyacht rigging systems and sail-handling equipment, has reached an agreement to be acquired by BSI A/S of Haderslev, Denmark, it reported in a recent statement.

Officials for both companies made the announcement in Haderslev at a company-wide meeting. Under the agreement, which becomes effective Jan. 1, 2007, the new company will be named Global Rigging Service, Inc., and will operate out of facilities in Riviera Beach, Fla.; Portsmouth, R.I.; and Trumbull, Conn.

The new company will continue to be directed by the OYS Service, Inc., management team. Colin J. Kiley, founder of OYS Service, has been named president of Global Rigging Service; Bernard “Jay” Kiley, Jr., will continue as general manager, and Tony Hawker will remain the service manager, according to the company. Carsten Friis, managing director of BSI A/S, will serve as chairman of the new company.

BSI A/S also owns Global BSI, a company specializing in the engineering and manufacture of rod rigging systems for large sailing vessels. Through a worldwide network of service centers, Global Rigging Service will offer preventative maintenance and service for all brands of rigging and sail handling systems on sailing yachts over 25 meters (84 feet) in length. The company will also continue to offer consulting and refit capabilities, along with inspection and surveying services, it said.

“Over the past six years, the Kiley Brothers have established a new benchmark for outstanding customer service and technical expertise related to superyacht rigs,” Friis explained. “Their strengths blend well with the BSI and GLOBAL BSI way of thinking. Together we will make a strong team that will allow us to continue to grow market share, while providing yacht owners, captains, and their guests with peace of mind while traveling the world’s oceans.”

“The BSI family is truly concerned with the relationship with their customers, and with producing and standing by the highest quality products,” said Colin Kiley. “We are thrilled to be allied with an ISO 9001-certified company that designs and builds all of their fittings in their 7,000 square-meter facility. Global BSI is respected for their ability to deliver product quickly and efficiently, often shaving weeks off the traditional refit.”

The acquisition is part of an aggressive growth strategy on the part of BSI’s directors. The company — which owns and markets Moonlight hatches and portlights, OS wire fittings, and Easy Marine brand sail-handling hardware — also acquired UK-based Global Rigging in 2005.
