Web Awards nomination deadline extended
SEATTLE – The National Marine Manufacturers Association and boats.com have extended the deadline for entries in the 2007 North American Marine Industry Web Awards to Dec. 15, 2006, the company said in a statement yesterday.
NMMA and boats.com launched the awards in 2004 to recognize companies with Web sites that demonstrate creativity in design, ease of navigation and presentation of up-to-date content.
The two-week deadline extension gives entrants sufficient time to complete their submissions and ensures the broadest possible representation from companies in all sectors of the marine industry, said James Nolan, group general manager of boats.com and yachtworld.com.
“The goal of the Web Awards is to encourage the highest standards of excellence in Web site design and content in the North American boating industry by recognizing those companies who are leading the way in this rapidly emerging marketplace,” Nolan said.
The five categories are best OEM/manufacturer site; best marine equipment site; best dealer/broker site; best marine site overall; and outstanding contribution to the online marine industry. The last category will honor an individual who has made a significant contribution to Internet development within the marine industry.
The Web Awards will be presented during a special ceremony at the 2007 Miami International Boat Show, which takes place Feb. 15 to 19 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Winners will receive a trophy designed by Tony Castro, one of the world’s leading yacht designers. The judging panel will include one representative from boats.com, one from NMMA and three independent Internet professionals from outside the marine industry.
