Powerboat sales decline may near double digits

MIAMI – When registration numbers for 2006 are tallied up, chances are the industry will see a powerboat sales decline of more than 7.5 percent, compared to the previous year.

That’s the conclusion Info-Link has reached following the release of its Bellwether Report, which has been updated through September.

“Last month it looked like the 15-ft plus powerboat market would be down 5-10 percent on the year and, after looking at the September adjustment, it looks like the final outcome will be closer to 10 percent than 5 percent,” said Jesse Wells, director of Sales & Marketing at Info-Link.

He added that while all segments continue to show declines over last year, PWCs continue to buck the trend.

“They look to be almost even compared to 2005,” Wells commented.

Info-Link’s September Bellwether Report, which is based on registrations of powerboats 15 feet in length and above, is available for viewing at: www.info-link.com/bellwetherreport.asp.
