Overseas dealers drive Fountain’s record FLIBS sales

WASHINGTON, N.C. — Fountain Powerboat Industries, Inc. (AMEX:FPB), a manufacturer of high performance sport boats, fish boats and express cruisers, broke sales records at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which ran Oct. 26 through 30.

“We have booked retail sales of approximately $6.2 million, making this our most successful exhibition at the Fort Lauderdale show,” said Reggie M. Fountain, Jr., chairman and CEO of Fountain Powerboats. “Our investment in our popular racing programs, aggressive marketing campaigns and dedication to building our international and domestic dealership programs have assisted us in and retaining our high level of industry recognition.”

Fountain Powerboats President David Knight explained that Fountain’s recent emphasis on growing its international presence was a major contributor to its FLIBS success.

“I’m particularly delighted to see that our dealers from Australia, Italy, Greece, Norway, France and China contributed approximately 51 percent of the $6.2 million of our Fort Lauderdale sales, while our dealers from South Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida contributed approximately 49 percent,” he said.

The top three U.S. boat shows for Fountain are the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the New York International Boat Show (Dec. 30 through Jan. 7), and the Miami International Boat Show (Feb. 15 through 19).
