Washington-based yacht builder acquired

ANACORTES, Wash. – Northern Marine has been acquired by Ashton Capital Corp., which contracted with the boat manufacturer last year to build its corporate yacht, the company reported in a recent statement.

The Washington-based yacht builder, which was founded in 1995 by shipbuilder Bud LeMieux, has not missed a beat during this process, the company said, with one new 151-foot tri-deck model scheduled to be finished in late October, a second ready to move through the production line and a third nearing its scheduled start date.

Ken Kurtenbach, formerly of PSA Composites – an Ashton holding, will take over the company as president, working with LeMieux to lead the company into its next phase of growth.

With plans to add several new models to its series of expedition cruisers and luxury yacht line-up, Northern Marine will be adding production staff and expanding the production facility in the coming year, according to the company.
