Merrill-Stevens Yachts opens San Diego location
SAN DIEGO – Merrill-Stevens Yachts has opened its first West Coast office in San Diego at 2240 Shelter Island Drive, the company reported in a recent statement.
Established in Florida, Merrill-Stevens is that state’s oldest continuously operating corporation, offering complete yacht repair and renovation facilities.
“Opening the San Diego office is a significant step in our plan to offer complete professional service to customers throughout the world,” said Hugh Westbrook, owner of Merrill-Stevens Yachts.
Industry veteran and Vice President David Roscow is leading the team in place at the Merrill-Stevens’ San Diego office. Other key staff members include Sue Fewster, administrator; Dean West, broker; Greg Morton, manager of yacht services; and Troy Kays in crew placement.
The company said the new location provides assistance in every aspect of sales, charter and management of luxury yachts, including brokerage, crew placement, maintenance and shipyard coordination, along with environmental and safety management.
“Many new people are coming into the yachting market without background,” Roscow noted. “And today’s bigger yachts are more sophisticated and crew intensive than ever. We’re in a position to guide owners and/or prospective owners through the challenges they may encounter and set them up so they have a happy yachting experience.”
Roscow said most boats 60-feet or larger can benefit from some degree of yacht management to help handle operational and maintenance issues that can overwhelm a single owner or solo captain.
