Hexion, CCP to increase prices

KANSAS CITY, Mo., COLUMBUS, Ohio – CCP Composites and Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Inc., have each decided to increase prices at the end of July, the companies reported in separate press releases.

CCP will begin a $0.05 per pound price increase for gel coat and unsaturated polyester resin products with that new price applicable to product shipments made on or after July 31.

“Additional significant increases in costs of raw materials (specifically phthalic, isophthalic, styrene, glycols, and DCPD) combined with ongoing increases in service-related costs such as transportation have made the need for another adjustment unavoidable,” said Paul Colonna, CCP’s vice president for Composites. “Having said that, we realize that this is a difficult environment for our customers, and are continuing to actively examine every possible aspect of our business in an attempt to minimize both the size and frequency of these changes.”

Hexion
The Composite Polymers business of Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Inc., will raise prices $0.05 per pound for all unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins, effective for all products shipped on, or after, July 31, the company said.

Hexion cited higher oil prices, which it said have impacted all intermediate chemical building blocks, as the reason for the increase.

“Energy costs to operate our facilities and freight costs to deliver the products have also increased,” the company said.
