Tenn. partnership creates new boat supply company

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A $2 million investment and a partnership between two Tennessee marine industry suppliers has created a new company that will supply coated fasteners to boat manufacturers and the aerospace industry, the Knoxville News reported in a story yesterday.

Precision Coating of Vonore, Tenn., and Volunteer Fastener and Supply of Maryville, Tenn., are forming Hill Conn Properties, which will be located in a 20,000-square-foot plant on five acres in Monroe County, Tenn., and could employ 40 workers within five years, the newspaper reported.

Bo Conner, vice president of Volunteer Fastener and Supply, told the News that the new venture combines Volunteer’s marine-grade fasteners with Precision’s coating process to produce new, corrosive-resistant products boat makers are demanding.

“We’re bringing together Precision Coating technology and Volunteer Fastener under one roof,” Conner said.

Volunteer will relocate, with its eight employees, to the new Vonore building, as will Precision Coating, which will bring it’s nine employees, although it will continue to operate as a separate business within in the new building, the newspaper reported.
