Newly acquired boatyard to become megayacht marina

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – New Orleans developer Earl E. Weber Jr. has bought Fort Lauderdale-based Summerfield Boat Works from the GreyHawk Marine Group and plans to turn it into a 26-slip megayacht marina, The Miami Herald reported in an article today.

Reservations have already been taken on almost half of the covered slips, which are expected to be priced between $2 million and $4 million, according to the newspaper. Each slip will include a two-car garage and 800 square feet of storage space.

The real estate for what will be named the Pier Seventeen Marina and Yacht Club was purchased for $10 million, it stated, double the price GreyHawk paid for the property in January 2005.

The planned marina is expected to help address South Florida’s shortage of megayacht dockage.
