Fall dealer certification workshops being scheduled

CHICAGO – The Marine Industry Dealership Certification program will begin its fall Launch Workshop schedule in August, the National Marine Manufacturers Association reported in a recent statement.

Already, several local and state marine trade associations (MTAs) have requested workshops be held in their area for members and local dealers. Some have offered further support by providing meeting space and catering services for the event, as well as promoting the Launch Workshops among their respective memberships, according to NMMA.

A Marine Industry Dealership Certification Launch Workshop is being held August 24 in Tampa at the request of the Marine Industries Association of Florida (MIAF); the Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) is planning a workshop in mid- to late-August; and other MTAs are in the process of scheduling Launch Workshops this fall, such as the Southern Marine Trades Association of Ohio, requesting a Cincinnati Workshop in mid- to late-October; the Northwest Marine Trades Association (NMTA), requesting an October meeting in Seattle; and the Connecticut Marine Trades Association (CMTA), looking to host a November Workshop.

Other marine companies have offered to host dealer certification Launch Workshops as well. Tiara Yachts of Holland, Mich., is hosting a workshop for its dealers on August 14 at its facility; MarineMax has opted to host a Launch Workshop for its locations, and Medart Marine has scheduled one in connection with its October trade show in St. Charles, Mo.

Any industry stakeholder interested in booking a Launch Workshop in their area for at least 20 dealers can contact Dealership Certification Program Manager Elizabeth McAllister at (312) 946-6500; emcallister@DealerCertification.org. A complete schedule of Launch Workshops will be posted on DealerCertification.org in the coming weeks.

To date, a total of 276 dealerships have enrolled in the Marine Industry Dealership Certification program. There are 54 that have completed the certification process and earned the official “Marine Industry Certified” designation.
