Baja reallocates Sportfish series

BUCYRUS, Ohio – Baja Marine is reallocating its Sportfish series to the Brunswick Commercial & Government Products division, where it will be renamed the “Intruder,” the company said in a release earlier this week.

Baja said the move will allow it to “sharpen its focus as the leader in the performance boat market,” and also give it and its dealer network an opportunity to concentrate on the core products of its performance lineup. The company noted that it has added a 26 Outlaw, 35 Outlaw and 405 Performance to its lineup this year.

“This move allows us to fully dedicate our resources to maximizing our current product line and developing new innovations that increase performance,” said Rob Parmentier, president of Baja Marine Corp. “Baja owners and fans should be prepared for more head-turners in the future.”

The Baja Sportfish will live on under the Intruder nameplate and, although it no longer features fishing accessories, the 28 Intruder will still include increased space for new electronics, bigger radar screens and drop-down bolster seats.

The company said customers can still contact their local Baja dealer to order the 28 Intruder, and plans are underway to expand Intruder model offerings soon.

“The U.S, Department of Homeland Security and Brunswick Commercial & Government Products teamed up with Baja to customize the Sportfish line to meet the mission requirements of our customers,” said Jeff Gayer, sales manager of Brunswick Commercial & Government Products. “The 28 Intruder is currently in service with numerous sheriff and police departments, the National Park Service and the U.S. Border Patrol. Brunswick Commercial & Government Products continues to provide a proven quality product designed by Baja.”
