Teleflex division expands into new facility

LITCHFIELD, Ill. – Teleflex’s Shields business, which manufactures hoses and accessories, plans to move into a new modern facility in Clearwater, Fla. in early May, the company reported in a statement today.

This expansion will ensure that Shields can continue to serve its distributor, boat builder and OEM customers at the same level as demand for its products increases, the company stated.

Of the 28,000 square feet available in the new building, Shield plans to devote 25,000 square feet to warehousing and operations to accommodate its expanding business. The move will allow Shields to further streamline its distribution processes, which should result in some dramatic improvements in Shields’ ability to process, package and ship the right product to the right customer at the right time, according to the company.

The move will not necessitate any interruption in shipping product to current customers, as the company plans to have shipping resources available at both the former facility and the new one, which are only four miles apart – and all orders are still being processed in Sierra’s main office in Litchfield, Ill.

Shields offers fuel lines, exhaust hoses, cooling hoses, bilge lines, vent lines, blower hoses, sanitation discharge lines, potable water lines and other products for vessels of all sizes.
