NMMA urges support of health insurance bill

CHICAGO – The National Marine Manufacturers Association issued an Action Alert message to its members earlier this week asking them to contact their senators and urge support of a bill that will help small businesses deal with spiraling healthcare costs.

NMMA says S. 1955, the Health Insurance Marketplace Modernization and Affordability Act, is “an extremely important piece of legislation” because it will enable small businesses to offer their employees quality health insurance in the face of those rising costs.

The bill would allow business and trade associations to band their members together and offer group health coverage on a national or regional basis to combat costs that are driving many employers and families from comprehensive health insurance.

NMMA said members can reach their senators by fax or email at www.nmma.org/grassroots/. Contact information and a customizable form letter are available there. NMMA also asks that members let Jeffrey Gabriel (jgabriel@nmma.org) know when they respond to elected representatives so that it can follow up.
