Pursuit Boats automates production lines

FT. PIERCE, Fla. – Pursuit Boats has automated both its assembly and lamination production lines to help facilitate growth, the company reported in a release yesterday.

“Automation of the production lines enables our employees to work smarter, not harder,” said Leon Slikkers, founder of Pursuit and chairman of S2 Yachts. “Growth within our production facility is something we look forward to – it means we will increase our production capacity, add new employees and satisfy the demand worldwide for our product.”

The automation of the production lines is one of the last items on a long checklist of projects that comprised an overall plant expansion that was put into motion in early 2005 and has included 60,000 square feet of additions to the lamination, mill shop and engineering buildings, designed to increase production by more than twenty percent.

“We engineered a system that helps us eliminate the manual efforts of moving the production line that is more efficient, safer and faster,” said Joey Sesta, senior manufacturing manager. “With time being so crucial in working with our production flow system, we had to find ways to eliminate areas of waste. Time is now better utilized and adds capacity and adding value to the boat for being produced in a more efficient manner.“
