Defender’s January sales up 29.7 percent

WATERFORD, Conn. – Discount marine supplier Defender Industries saw a 29.7-percent increase in January 2006 sales compared to the same period last year, according to a recent statement from the company. This continues the double-digit sales growth it has posted in recent years, Defender said.

“Introduction of the new Genesis line of inflatable boats by Walker Bay helped the Boats & Motors segment lead the way again with strong gains,” Vice President Stephan Lance stated. “Sales of rapid-response, dive- & fire-rescue boats also continue to increase, contributing to the growth of this product category and our business.”

“Our ongoing focus on increasing the boating expertise of our employees and being in-stock on the products customers want most is paying off,” explained Executive Director Al Knupp.

Founded in 1938, Defender Industries is a family-owned marine outfitter and supplier of boating equipment, supplies, accessories, apparel, inflatable boats and outboard motors worldwide via catalog, the Internet and throughout the Northeastern U.S. at the Defender Warehouse Outlet Store located at company headquarters in Connecticut.
