EH Yachts purchases Topaz Boats

EGG HARBOR CITY, N.J. – EH Yachts, manufacturers of Egg Harbor Yachts, Davis Yachts and Predator, has acquired Topaz Boats in a move that continues its strategy of purchasing companies to help strengthen its range of sportfishing yachts.

With the purchase of the Topaz line, EH adds the 32 Express and 40 Express to its lineup.

Topaz, a 30-year old company located in Berlin, N.J. creates high-end sportfishing yachts in a smaller package than the Egg, Davis or Predator lines, giving EH Yachts the ability to offer fishing solutions for almost every serious fisherman, the company said.

“Topaz garnered our attention at the Atlantic City In-Water Power Boat Show,” Bob Hazard, vice president and company spokesperson said. “Egg is constantly looking to add to its offerings, and Topaz proved to be the perfect addition at this time.”

Once the offer was made, the deal was closed quickly. Within three days from completion of the sale, Topaz equipment had been moved to the EH Yachts facility and production began.

This move is the latest in the buying strategy of owner Dr. Ira Trocki, who purchased Egg Harbor Yachts in 1999, and since has aggressively expanded the company lines. In 2001, the Sarasota, Fla.-based Predator yachts was purchased, followed closely by the Buddy Davis Line of sportfishers in 2003.

Along with the addition of the two new boats, EH Yachts has added 25 additional employees to its newly expanded manufacturing facility. The first EH Yachts built Topaz – a 32 footer – will launch in December.
