Yamaha denies price-hike rumor

KENNESAW, Ga. – Seeking to dispel rumors that it would institute mid-year price increases on its outboard motors, Yamaha Marine issued a press release earlier this week saying it has no plans for such a move.

“There have been rumors that Yamaha Marine will follow some of its competitors by raising prices on engines mid-year,” said Ben Speciale, Yamaha Marine’s vice president of operations and planning. “Pay no attention to them. Yamaha customers can be assured that we do not have any plans of increasing prices before the beginning of the program year.”

“The Yamaha team works hard in making sure prices are correct at the beginning of the year so our customers can plan their entire year of business without a mid-year price increase.

Speciale said Yamaha has announced its ‘Fun Starts Here’ sales event to kick-start selling activity as the boat show season approaches and concluded by saying, “We are on a record- setting retail pace with our customers and we expect this season to be the best ever.”
