Seattle Boat Show expands further

SEATTLE – The Seattle Boat Show, including the Lake Union Boats Afloat Show, has expanded and will offer its largest-ever selection of watercraft, organizers reported in a release yesterday.

An extended concourse at Qwest Field Event Center will give showgoers 20,000 square feet for new display areas. More than 1,000 boats – including fishing boats, inboard cruisers, runabouts, kayaks, sailboats and inflatables – and hundreds of accessories, plus the latest high-tech innovations will be showcased indoors by nearly 550 exhibitors.

“The growing size and popularity of the boat show mirrors the ever-increasing growth of recreational boating in the Northwest,” Seattle Boat Show director George Harris said. “Everything about this year’s event supports the promise that ‘bigger means better.”

Seminars will also continue to be a hot attraction for Northwest boaters. This year, 50 speakers have been booked to cover more than 100 free seminars throughout the show. For boaters wanting to immerse themselves in advanced marine topics, organizers have created Boat Show University – offering three-hour intensive seminars in topics such as electrical troubleshooting and diesel engine repair.

The show is scheduled to be held Jan. 13-22 at Qwest Field Event Center and on the water at Chandler’s Cove on Lake Union.
