Brunswick’s SmartCraft expands as new partners added

OSHKOSH, Wis. – MotoTron, provider of production-embedded engine control systems, said today that the SmartCraft integration system developed with Mercury Marine has been expanded again with the addition of several new partners.

“The exciting part about our expansion this year is that not only have we added more leading companies in engine information displays, such as Beede Electrical Instruments Co., FW Murphy Corp. and Medallion Instruments, but we are also working with new partners on the integration of additional vessel systems,” said Phil Gaynor, marine business manager of MotoTron.

Such systems include Dometic Corporation’s Marine Air systems, Xantrex Technology’s inverters and battery chargers, DNA Group and BEP Marine’s Multiplex power management products, and Airmar Corp.’s depth, speed and weather information products.

In addition, the SmartCraft Network program has added IDS (Integrated Dealer Systems) as one if its partners. IDS recently launched Dialog, a vessel systems data recorder that allows boat owners to download the SmartCraft data onto a USB flash drive and take it to the dealership in case of irregularities or when it’s time to service the boat.

“The key to pulling this integration together is the challenging task of managing it all,” said Dave Rausen, product development manager of MotoTron. “To do this right, we need to understand all of our partners’ product lines and work alongside them throughout the development process. In the end, if the components of any system are not coordinated to interact correctly with each other, integration will fail to deliver the value it promises to our customers.”
