Bennington begins major expansion

ELKHART, Ind. – Bennington Marine has broken ground in Elkhart, Ind., on a new facility that could bring 300 new workers to the company, Indiana television station WNDU reported in a story on its Web site yesterday.

Bennington, which began operations in Elkhart in 1997, is planning to invest millions of dollars in the area over the next 10 years, company president Steve Vogel, told the station.

“I would say over the next 18-months, we will see 300 new people,” Vogel said. “We’re looking at a $10 million investment over the next 10-years. We expect to continue investing in this business in this community beyond that.”

Vogel credits the company’s success to the fact that it has only been around eight years, but has already earned several awards for customer satisfaction and quality, WNDU reported.

“Suddenly they have become a significant manufacturer of pleasure boats right here in Elkhart County,” Elkhart Mayor David Miller told the television station.
