North End Composites preparing for expansion

ROCKLAND, Maine – Maine yacht builder North End Composites is buying “the largest building in Rockland” to increase production so that it can keep up with demand for its Back Cove line of boats, reported WLBZ2.com in an article yesterday.

Only two years after introducing the Back Cove line, the boat builder is about to ship its 100th boat. North End Composites currently completes a yacht every five to seven days, according to the TV station.

The company anticipates that it will tie up its purchase of the former Nautica warehouse and move into it by sometime this fall, WLBZ reported.

“We’re hoping within the next year and a half or so, as we continue to increase production, that we’ll be able to get up to about 110, and five years out, we’ll hopefully be at 150,” COO Jeff Baker told the TV station. “What we’re looking for is steady growth.”
