Merrill-Stevens purchases Bradford Yacht Sales

MIAMI – Merrill-Stevens Dry Dock Co. recently completed its acquisition of the assets of Fort Lauderdale-based Bradford Yacht Sales, a 40-year-old brokerage company, it reported in a recent statement.

“This purchase is a key component in our plans to continue our growth as an industry leader through planned expansion of our operations and service capabilities,” said Hugh Westbrook, owner of Merrill-Stevens.

“A primary benefit of the acquisition is welcoming all 13 Bradford brokers and staff into the Merrill-Stevens family,” said Whit Kirtland, president of Merrill-Stevens Yacht Sales Division. “We are all proud that Merrill-Stevens will now be associated with these outstanding brokers who are some of the best in the business, representing over 295 years of active yacht sales experience.”

The yacht sales division consisting of the Bradford sales executives and staff with those of Merrill-Stevens will become known as Merrill-Stevens Yacht Sales. In conjunction with this acquisition, the company will be relocating its 82-year-old yacht brokerage sales headquarters to new offices in Ft. Lauderdale. The new facility is adjacent to the 17th Street Causeway in the Causeway Corporate Center, where Bradford had been operating. Yacht Sales and Shipyard Operations will continue from its well-known location on the Miami River.
