Crestliner lays off 60 workers

LITTLE FALLS, Minn. – Brunswick Corp., is temporarily laying off 60 workers at the Crestliner boat factory in Little Falls, Minn., about 15 percent of the plant’s employees, the Associated Press reported in a story on the Miami Herald’s Web site yesterday.

The layoffs started May 20. Brunswick said they were necessary because Crestliner inventories were higher than Brunswick wanted, company spokesman Dan Kubera told AP Wednesday.

Brunswick recently laid off 145 workers at the Lund Boats factory in New York Mills, citing excessive inventories and slow sales attributed to rainy weather.
