Defender Industries expands its e-commerce department

WATERFORD, Conn. – Marine retailer Defender Industries has expanded its e-commerce department and promoted Brian Mogel to e-commerce department manager, it reported in a statement yesterday.

Customer orders placed via the Internet for inflatable boats, outboard engines, and accessories for all types of boats have made e-commerce the fastest growing sales channel at Defender, according to the company.

“It’s no secret that the Internet has and continues to change the way people live, work, and certainly how they shop,” said Executive Director Al Knupp.

In his newly expanded role, Mogel will be responsible for training and utilizing all available resources to maximize the quality and quantity of content, presentation, functionality and user-friendliness of the Defender Web site.

To be more representative of the evolution of its work content, the Desktop Publishing department will now be integrated into the e-commerce area and be known as e-Publishing.

“These changes will refocus our efforts on creating the best Web site possible,” explained Knupp. “However, our goal is to make Defender every boaters’ first choice no matter what sales channel is their preference.”
