Fireboy-Xintex receives USCG approval

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Fireboy-Xintex, Inc. has received the first U.S. Coast Guard approval for a pre-engineered fire suppression system protecting engine rooms over 1,500 cubic feet for its new patent-pending GA Series System, the company said in a recent release.

Previously, only pre-engineered systems up to 1,500 cubic feet were available with U.S. Coast Guard approval. Now, Fireboy-Xintex offers the only approved pre-engineered clean agent fire suppression system for vessels with engine rooms up to 3,000 cubic feet.

The GA Series utilizes a temperature sensing and agent discharge system to extinguish an engine room fire. With four temperature sensors strategically located in the engine compartment, whenever one or more of the temperature sensors measures ambient temperature of 175ºF, the dual extinguisher tanks discharge simultaneously, totally flooding the engine room.

The GA Series may also be manually discharged from up to three separate locations with the special fire-resistant high-temperature manual discharge cables.
