Beacon Wi-Fi Network surpasses 100 marinas

WILTON, Conn. – Beacon Wi-Fi, a provider of wireless high-speed Internet services to the marina market, has grown its wireless marina network to over 100 marinas through continuous marina installations and the acquisitions of Pelagic Networks (Fla.), Dockside Data (Fla.) and Broadreach Communications (R.I.), the company reported in a recent statement.

“We now have marinas in every state up and down the Eastern Seaboard, and cover most major yachting destinations,” said Chris Reitz, co-founder of Beacon Wi-Fi. “Our goal has always been to build a seamless roaming network — we are now getting close on the entire east coast and will expand geographically from here.”

The new Beacon Wi-Fi cruising destinations for 2005 include: Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; Cape Cod, Mass.; Sag Harbor, N.Y.; Block Island, R.I.; Newport, R.I.; Annapolis, Md.; Hampton, Va.; Manteo, N.C.; Charleston, S.C.; Savannah, Ga.; St. Augustine, Fla.; Bradenton, Fla.; Tavernier Key, Fla.; Mobile, Ala.

“Our network infrastructure remains strong and is constantly updated for our rapid expansion as we approach a 3,000 mile stretch with many remote locations,” said Russell Schmidt, co-founder of Beacon Wi-Fi. “As we grow, our field support strategy will grow with us.”
