Glassmaster to build boats for 2006
LEXINGTON, S.C. – Former boat builder, Glassmaster Company, says it plans to begin building boats for the 2006 model year, according to a recent release.
A new marine division of Glassmaster, Glassmaster Marine LLC will be overseen by new Vice President and General Manager Jim Burroughs, who joined the company after having served as President of Torrington Automotive Division.
Glassmaster Co., built more than 40,000 boats between 1958 and 1990, including patrol boats for the Department of Natural Resources in Alabama, Louisiana, North and South Carolina, Virginia and the U.S. government for more than 25 years. Glassmaster continued to serve the marine industry with products through Glassmaster Controls in Kalamazoo, Mich. The company currently manufactures extruded monofilaments, including sewing thread, filaments for papermakers’ fabrics, trimmer and fishing lines and specialty fiberglass products.
