NMD media kits available online

WASHINGTON – The 2005 National Marina Day Resource Kits have been posted online (at www.marinaassociation.org/nmd/home.cfm) and can be downloaded at no cost, NMD co-chairs Dale Thomas and Dwight Jones said in a recent release.

The kits will also be mailed to all Association of Marina Industries members and BoatUS Cooperating Marina members.

Among the materials included in the 2005 National Marina Day Resource Kits are:

  • A sample proclamation marina operators and owners can ask their local city council or governing body to pass that puts their community on record as being pro-marina.
  • A sample one-page news release marina operators and owners can use to announce National Marina Day and encourage community participation in their scheduled events;
  • A sample speech/guest column extolling the many ways marinas benefit waterfront communities that can be delivered before local Chambers of Commerce and other community organizations and/or sent to local media outlets as an opinion-editorial piece
  • A sample letter to customers communicating the vital role marinas play in waterfront cities and towns not only as gateways to boating and stewards of the environment, but as vibrant communities of families and friends sharing a passion for the water
  • A sample letter to local, state and federal officials educating them about the critical roles marinas play in America
  • A checklist that outlines exactly how to conduct a marina tour for elected officials and policy makers
  • Sample 30 second and 60 second radio spot scripts
  • Fliers showing the National Marina Day materials 2005 NMD Outfitter West Marine has made available for purchase by NMD participants and order forms
  • National Marina Day is produced by the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) and is an annual nationwide celebration of the role America’s marinas play as gateways to boating and stewards of the environment. In 2005, National Marina Day will be observed on Aug. 13.

    “This year’s National Marina Day materials represent an effort by AMI to make involvement even easier,” said Thomas. “We are hopeful that this will spur greater participation in this important industry event.”
