Industry off to slow start in some segments

MIAMI – Info-Link’s February Bellwether Report – an examination of retail registration data in select major-boating states – and seem to indicate that portions of the industry have begun the year slowly, the company reported.

“Though registration figures in the winter months should be read in context, it appears as if many segments are off to a slow start this year,” Jesse Wells, director of sales & marketing at Info-Link said.

However, Wells said the PWC market appears as though it may be bucking this trend.

A closer look at the PWC year-over-year numbers for the three month period ending in February shows an overall gain of 5 percent this year over last. Yamaha is the big winner in the category, with a 24 percent increase, while Kawasaki is down 22 percent.
