WATERFORD, Conn. - Marine outfitter and supplier Defender Industries' 9th Annual Warehouse Sale was the most successful ever, the company said yesterday.
Sales during the four-day event were up 23.6 percent over 2004, making it the fifth warehouse sale in a row with increases over 20 percent. In total, sales have nearly tripled since 2001.
The increase in sales during the March 31 - April 3 event was shared among Defender's three primary sales channels: Outlet Store, Catalog/Call Center, and Internet.
"Our Web site had tens of thousands of hits, a significant portion of which were first-time visitors," reported eCommerce manager Brian Mogel.
Defender utilized its 110,000 square foot Connecticut warehouse for the sale, setting up boat-show style booths manned by over 50 manufacturers' representatives displaying all the latest marine gear.
