NMEA will hold second ConnectFest

SEVERNA PARK, Md. – The National Marine Electronics Association will hold a second NMEA 2000 ConnectFest May 16 – 18 as part of the 2005 Radio Technical Commission of Maritime Services Annual Assembly Meeting and Conference in St. Pete Beach, Fla., NMEA said in a release yesterday.

The NMEA 2000 ConnectFest will demonstrate the interconnectivity and interoperability from different electronic manufacturers at a live demonstration. It will follow the same format as the ConnectFest at the Miami Boat Show last month. Twelve participants, including: Airmar, Blue Water Data, CPAC Systems (Volvo), Evinrude, Faria, Maretron, Molex, Raymarine, Simrad, Teleflex, Yanmar and Yamaha gave live, real-time demonstrations of forty NMEA 2000 certified products at that event.

“The capabilities and solutions the NMEA 2000 network offers clearly exceeded the expectations of both the press and public,” Jennifer Matsis, sales manager of Marine Products at Airmar Technology Corp., said. “They were amazed to watch products self-configure when added to the network. Overall, the event was extremely successful and Airmar was excited to be part of it. I predict many more manufacturers will design their products to be NMEA 2000 certified which will result in a faster adoption of this protocol as a viable solution on boats.”
