CADILLAC, Mich. - Boat manufacturer Four Winns was presented with the “Best of Show” award by the National Marine Manufacturers Association at the Miami International Boat Show, the Cadillac News reported in a story today.
"We just had a phenomenal show,” Four Winns vice president of Marketing Rick Fulmer told the newspaper. “That was surely something that was a pretty far reaching goal," Miami is traditionally where all the companies put their best foot forward and for us to be chosen is a pretty incredible honor."
Four Winns built an interactive “dIPSlay” with Volvo Penta's new Inboard Performance System as its centerpiece. Fulmer said "thousands upon thousands" went through it on a daily basis, including representatives of other boat companies. Four Winns had two to three times more traffic than any other “dIPSlay,” Fulmer said.
Four Winns also had a cruiser in the water for people to ride and drive. This model was filled to capacity during the entire show.
"We now believe that in a short handful of years, (IPS) will be the propulsion that will drive a boat of this size," Fulmer told the newspaper. "If it has the commercial appeal, which we believe it does, it could be a great opportunity for us to win over some new customers."
Four Winns is planning to begin manufacturing cruisers with the IPS later this year for 2006 model boats.
