Hinckley to manage Point East Marina

PORTLAND, Maine – The Hinckley Co., a luxury yacht builder in Southwest Harbor, Maine, is continuing its expansion of service yards by entering into a long-term lease at the soon-to-open Point East Marina along the Sheepscot River in Wiscasset, Maine, the company reported in a release yesterday.

Hinckley will be the exclusive full-service operator and marina manager at the former Mason Station power plant. Point East, a subsidiary of National RE/sources based in Greenwich, Conn., acquired the property in December 2003, and has plans for developing a Maritime Village on the 33-acre peninsula that will include 175 residential units, hotel and conference center, restaurants and extensive retail shops.

The marina complex will have 250 to 300 slips, a full service repair facility including year round storage, and a 70-ton travel lift capable of hauling yachts up to 80 feet.

“The Hinckley Co. is thrilled to be part of this major development with Point East in the beautiful town of Wiscasset,” said Gerry Dischino, Hinckley president and CEO. “By the summer of 2005, we will have temporary slips and will provide in-water service. By fall 05, we will have our first heated storage building with the capacity to store and service approximately 45 yachts.

“This operation, once it reaches full potential, will create between 20-30 new jobs. For The Hinckley Co., this is a great addition to our already established network of five service yards.”
