Simrad wins “Best of Show” in New York

LYNNWOOD, Wash. – Simrad, Inc. recently received the “Best of Show Award” for its display at the 2005 New York National Boat Show, the marine electronics manufacturer said in a release Friday.

Show manager Michael Duffy presented the award to the Simrad crew on Jan. 9. Simrad’s brand new exhibit was chosen over several other new booths making their debut in New York.

“It was especially gratifying to win the award this year, due to the tremendous amount of work it took both in Lynnwood and at the show site to get our new exhibit up and running,” said Paul Comyns, newly appointed marketing director for Simrad, Inc. “I would especially like to thank Tom Allison for his hard work and long hours of preparation work back in Lynnwood preparing the exhibit for shipping before the holidays. Everybody also went above and beyond the call of duty to complete final assembly under very tight deadlines.”

The Simrad crew – consisting of Allison, Randy Morris and Allen Schneider – began setup Dec. 28 and completed the job on New Years Eve – a task made more challenging because the entire exhibit was new to each of them.

The layout was specially designed to have an open and inviting feel, and to draw customers in to get “hands on” with the Simrad marine electronics on display. A 16-ft. high Simrad “halo” above the exhibit is designed to catch visitor’s eyes and make it easy to find from anywhere on the floor. This new booth will be used to promote Simrad products at exhibitions throughout North America. It is currently on show in Seattle and will be the centerpiece of Simrad’s efforts at the 2005 Miami International Boat Show next month.
